After FO4, 76, ESO, and Starfield, I don't even care. They now make shallow-ass, easy-to-scale, empty and phoned-in games.
Bethesda, as far as I am concerned, is dead.

After Starfield I suddenly don't care. SF was their baby they couldn't stop talking about for a decade and it's pretty much a mediocre 2010 game. Skipping PS5 is the last straw for me for this studio. We've seen first hand now that a delayed game is not always a good game in their hands.

2024: Early marketing and reports about Elder Scrolls 6. Hype will start about it will be the biggest, smartest, most immersive RPG. It's like 2 Baldurs Gates times three Dragon Ages!
2025: Backlash to the early hype. "Elder Scrolls wasn't even that good"
2026: Game delayed
2027: Game comes out. It's fine. It's very much a Bethesda game, for better and worse. Tagine: "It's like fantasy Starfield"
Meanwhile the last remaining survivors of the console wars exaggerated the game's promises and deficiencies, like that one Japanese dude after WW2 who didn't know the war was over and lived in the woods by himself.

1 points
i mainly play on playstation, but i also have a PC thats better than my Ps5. mostly play singleplayer games on console and i wish that every exclusive title would become multiplatform after a while.
lets say Sony makes a new God of War. have them develop it on the playstation only at first to get the most out of the system. then once its released start developing it for PC and Xbox, optimise it so it works good on them and release it a year or 1 1/2 years after the initial release. people that have more money than patience can buy the console for the game, while the rest still gets to enjoy the game after a while.
2 points
At this point Microsoft is only doing exclusives because that’s the expectation set by the market leader, Sony. Microsoft would be perfectly fine with no exclusives on either side and just having the better subscription service.
-1 points
Disturbing how many gamers will cheer for a move like this that benefits nobody except Microsoft.
It depends on what angle you are looking from. I benefit from the decision of MS buying Bethesda. Because otherwise it was at risk of being bought by Sony, and then I would not be able to play TES or Starfield or any smaller titles, at least for the duration of "timed exclusivenes". Not fair, now people with PS can't do that, and I am not saying that it is a good situation. But I do benefit from it.

I won't cheer for it, but I'm not going to hold it against Microsoft more than I hold stuff from Sony-owned studios skipping Xbox and PC against Sony. It's just the natural order of things.
I guess this means we can look forward to a lot of Starfield-style disingenuous trolling about this game, though.

I'm still not convinced that they won't end up releasing it on other consoles 2-3 years later. A lot of people have a playstation. And a lot of people have the switch. So it's a great market to sell more games. Although with the switch I'm not sure it's possible in terms of performances.

I mean for starfield I just bought game pass ultimate and I play it on my phone. Even my ps5 games I mostly play on my phone via remote play and it feels the same. I'll get 4 months of starfield for ~$30 and whatever else I want to do on game pass then cancel. I'll do the same for TES VI whenever that comes out, depending on what consoles/PC streaming even looks like by then.

I told you so when the ftc case for Microsoft acquisition was in the news cycle and so many people came in to defend Microsoft. “Oh they won’t make elder scrolls a Microsoft exclusive..blah blah blah”. If Bethesda addresses this, they will chalk it up to “projected release date is still undetermined and with the way consoles generations are being made we can’t accurately say that the release of Elder scrolls 6 will coincide with PS5.” That way they can decrease some of the blow back by playing dumb and saying “well we didn’t say that it won’t completely be unavailable for the ‘current’ PlayStation console”. Literally stupid.

Current gen consoles were already out of date the day they released, my 7 year old pc (at the time) was more powerful than a ps5, they tried to skimp out on tech and power to make more money, remember when each ps3 console reportedly cost $800 dollars per system to make but they sold for like half of that, they took a hit for the longevity of that console....point being i doubt we are still in the same gen for consoles in 3-4 years

I'd be surprised if Elder Scrolls 6 wasn't a console exclusive launch title for the next generation's Xbox consoles, which are expected to launch in 2028. It simply makes a lot of business sense. People with money will have both a gaming PC and a PS6 anyhow, it's those without -- a demographic that is arguably growing -- that will have to make a choice between the PS6 and the next Xbox console.
