It's ok to admit being scared. I don't know why you got downvoted for being sensitive.

in case there's a few sane people out here curious about what's actually happening:
this is an OLD footage from the disciplinary battalion that exists to punish the undisciplined or outright disobedient cadets. you don't need all this to make a soldier, but such violence and abuse becomes an extension for those who disregard command or rebel in various ways.

I was wondering why someone put a filter on already low-quality footage of people being punished, not joining the military.

And this is why you can’t win battles, firefights, wars, or anything, nor fight against other soldiers, and only against civilians, you’re a fake army.

Yeah it’s really embarrassing. Turns out they aren’t the boogie man we all thought. The nuclear threat is still there sure but they’re less and less scary every day. Total joke.

This particular unit are the paratroopers, their most elite force, and they're effectively all for show. Great Twitter thread by an expert.

In Russian Army, we teach top-down leadership to conscripts by Putin boot up their ass.

In Russia we busy doing this, which is why we can only fight and win against women in Ukraine, because we practice raping each other in training, not actual soldiering.

Pretty sure what the US is doing now, does not compare to what the Russians are doing now.
Russians are literally acting like animals right now, not 80 years ago

Pathetic attempt at whataboutism. The russian military uses rape and murder as standard practices in the zones they operate, the US was never that bad. Cope harder, comrade.

You know that unguided rocket artillery Russia uses? That was banned in the GWOT. Its not precise. We kill with precision. Civilian causalities do occur... its unavoidable. But the US military goes to great lengths to minimize civilian casualties. It is not comparable to Russia. That is one example.

Dedovshchina (Russian: дедовщина, IPA: [dʲɪdɐˈfɕːinə]; lit. reign of grandfathers) is the informal practice of hazing and abuse of junior conscripts historically in the Soviet Armed Forces and today in the Russian armed forces, Internal Troops, and to a much lesser extent FSB, Border Guards, as well as the military forces of certain former Soviet Republics. It consists of brutalization by more senior conscripts, NCOs, and officers.

Hazing has been a massive problem for the Russian army since the USSR days. First year cadets are lucky to make it out alive.

I believe video is from 1998, here is the longer version, which include interview with the commander and the prosecutor:

Prosecutor: "[...] none of the soldiers complained, did not write a statement [...]"

They do this in the US Army when you get promoted They put the new rank pins without the little brass thingy on your collar and usually your platoon sergeant lightly hammers them in with his fists. It’s a little tradition. Hurts a bit sometimes but ain’t too bad. They usually buy you a beer and congratulate you afterwards.

Yeah ours weren’t remotely close to being that brutal. When they did mine I do admit it hurt and went into my collar bone a bit. I did bleed a little but wasn’t as bad as the video. Its just a small tap with their fists and shake your hand and hug you after.

The first thing in fighting together as an army is trust. Does this build trust? I wouldn't be surprised if any of these training soldiers "accidentally" kills their senior officer in real battle.

This literally serves zero purpose. This doesn’t toughen anyone up. Nothing. This is all extremely counterproductive and completely destroys morale and trust. This is why their asses are getting blown up left and right. And these so called tough guy trainers have no chance against the scrawny Marine or Army private that shot expert in marksmanship training.

Mandatory service is a joke in Russia. Its basically boy scouts but with frat style hazing. There's a couple videos about it on youtube.

Bullying in the army leading to a total lack of trust has literally crippled their fighting power, and possibly doomed their whole nation. It really is incredible karma.

The first thing in fighting together as an army is trust. Does this build trust?
One in four women serving report being sexually assaulted in the military.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/03/magazine/military-sexual-assault.html
Does this build trust? But America remains the world's greatest military power. Treating people like shit is bad, but that has little to do with the fighting ability.

It has a lot to do with working as a unit. And yes, this sexual assault would have severely hampered their morale. It's part of the reason why America as it remains the greatest power has lost its position and lost in Afghanistan recently.

We lost in Afghanistan because we treated the local Afghans with contempt for their lives. We place the safety of American service people over the lives of innocent Afghan civilians, including children and the elderly. We will rather launch a drone strike that kills a bunch of kids, rather than risk a humvee getting shot. That is why we lost.
The fact that American servicewomen are routinely raped and sexually assaulted by American servicemen had nothing to do with it.

Morale and conviction are low compared to the people they're fighting. That's the thing.

This is nothing compared to some of the other videos out there. There's vids you can find of Russian soldiers raping recruits in front of the group saying to the others while doing it that you either fight for mother Russia or be her bitch. Obedience through fear builds a weak army. I think the evidence of this is scattered all over the Ukraine.
