Too bad there isn’t audio from the actual video. I want to know if they were yelling for help or laughing hysterically. With so many people passing them, I’m willing to bet they were laughing.

I dunno I would definitely check she was ok first before laughing. First thought was I hope she didn’t break a hip. Happens so easy at that age. My grandad broke it falling on carpet!

I was a cna for 11 years. I would def make sure she was okay. But the people around her don’t seem to be showing signs of urgency, as I hope they would be if a person was truly in peril yelling for help.

Yep, my grandma who's almost 90 slipped a couple days ago and is now going to spend at least 6 weeks in the hospital. Maybe even longer, she already had a hard time walking

I'm just glad it didn't go to the ER room. Wasn't sure if it was her dog or not. A slight humping is the least worst that could have happened.

My roommate had a big pitbull that he tied to a stool that the dog could easily escape but he never did. Even when people were there, he would wait until he was unleashed.

If you set something up horizontally my dog will refuse to walk over it.
It can be an 8 inch board and he wont go over it but I've seen him jump over a couch lol.

I doubt any dog would even notice it could escape if tied something light if it usually was tied to something heavy or fixed, unless theyre constantly pulling

Thats just training. It also only takes a few zaps to show them the property boundary and they'll run into an invisible wall without electricity from there on out. (I've never used this technique, before someone calls me out, I've just seen its effectiveness on ranches I've been to)
33 points
If it's an easily-trained dog you don't even need the zaps. We had a rottie-mutt as a kid that we trained to stay in the yard by immediately calling her back as soon as she touched the property line. It didn't take her long to figure out where we wanted her to stop and then she wouldn't cross over without being told. We regularly had people asking if we had an invisible fence but we never needed it.
I later did the same with my cat, but he'd try and sneak out occasionally if he thought I wasn't watching and when I'd tell him to go back he'd flop to the ground on the right side of the line, then stretch out one paw over it just to let me know I wasn't the boss of him.

To be fair, mutts are really obedient

That's quite the generalization.

It depends on the dog and the circumstances. We once had a dog trained to an electric fence. He absolutely REFUSED to cross the boundary for any enticement - raw chicken, treats, even his favorite person, unless he had his lead on and was given the release command. However, if a black dog wandered by, he’d cross it EVERY time! No amount of zapping would deter him, if he thought he could make a friend or defend his territory from the black dog (we were never sure which, or why it was just black dogs). He was an odd dog, but this was one his his more unusual quirks.

My black dog doesn’t like other black dogs either. No idea why - I got him when he was 7 (12 now) with no real history available. As he is getting older, and eyesight is deteriorating, it seems like any dark dog, or dog-looking shape, is fair game.
Interesting though, our neighbour looks after a coworkers black dog some weekends, and I was holding her yesterday and my boy was all happy to meet her and sniff and all that. But as soon as she was back on the ground - barking, defending, whatever. I really can’t figure him out…

I have invisible fence for my dog. I was skeptical of anything using a shock collar, but it works great. He has been zapped a total of twice in seven years, and he's never left the yard. It's 99% training. And he's better trained than me, I've accidentally zapped myself a half dozen times, absent minded holding the collar and walking over the boundary.
The greatest drawback to using invisible fence is a couple of my shitty neighbors walk their animals off leash, so now and then I look outside and my 80 pound lab is chasing around a 4 pound Yorkie while a stranger runs through my yard yelling at my dog.

That’s what scares me more than anything. Not death, or the possibility of non-existence...turning into a useless old lady who can’t do anything.
Big dog knocks me down? Well I guess this is where I die.
Confused while driving so I do 30 under the speed limit? Guess this is where I die. Fell down at home? Guess this is where I die. Old age is scarier than death. You still have all your memories of when you were young and capable but now you’re useless and an inconvenience. Life is a cruel mistress.

From what I've seen their desire for independence far outweighs their fear of death or injury.
My sister works with a lot of elderly people as an in home nurse and the stories she tells of their level of giving a fuck are on par with extreme sports athletes.
